Wrong assumptions about interior decor and design

I am a very talkative person and because l love talking, the decor topic once in a while  comes up when l engage in conversations. What l have realised is most people have what l believe to be wrong assumptions about design and decor.l will talk about a few of them today

1. These are things for the rich

Vs

Most people believe beautiful spaces are only afforded by the rich. I beg to differ. If you go to shops there are beautiful pieces that you find for a reasonable price. I know this because l still consider my myself broke and l shop at Pep home ,Mr price home and Sheetstreet.  In these stores you will find beautiful decorations from as low as R10. Take time and do some window shopping you will thank me๐Ÿ˜‰.Don't let shops like @Home scare you off๐Ÿ˜Š

2. Owning a lot of things shows that you can afford.

Vs

Yes it's TRUE you can afford but does cluttered spaces look lovely NO!!! Too much of everything is not good and l think its unnecessary.  Let the living area breathe and be inviting.  Having a lot of items makes places look complicated and unpleasant. Less is more♥️.Each room should tell a beautiful story or have its only identity. The old and the things you dont need get rid of them

3. All the trends should be followed

                                     Vs

I strongly dispute that  all trends should be followed when it comes to decor and design. I know it's very tempting but some of these trends let them go. The reason is some are expensive and are there for a short period. You will invest in a royal blue couch that is a trend in 2020 before you know it its 2021 a new trend is available.  My advice is there are timeless pieces of furniture that you can buy like a leather couch black or brown and you will only incorporate the trending detail on the easily replaceable pieces

  3. I second. I too shop at pep home and mrprice home, and I couldn't be more happier with how my space looks like at the moment. I dont have a monthly salary, so with the little I get and the little i buy I'm really satisfied.
